Slaugham cricket ground

Slaugham cricket ground was situated behind the Old Rectory in a picturesque position looking down on the Mill Pond which is visible through the trees in this photograph.
Only the cricket square was mown regularly and, according to my father who played there, it was no joke fielding in the “deep” with long grass up past your knees! I think the picture illustrates this perfectly.
I am wondering if the home team are playing against Pease Pottage. The batsman has a very similar cap to that shown in picture #1262.
