I think the first girl in the back row is Beryl Glover, 2nd is Ann Feast, and 4th is Irene Venn.

Could the "Unknown (smiling boy)" be Michael Whitlock?

The local Handcross policeman was a PC Message, father of Brian Message. One day in the early 1950s he arrived at our door to discuss our rather wayward behaviour. We, as kids, had been roller skating on the slip road off the A23 to Staplefield.
He arrived by pushbike, so would have had to cycle back UP Handcross Hill......
We used to live at Stanbridges at the bottom of the hill.

Yes, the smiling boy is definitely Michael Whitlock.
The fairy next to him is Beverley Bateman, and next to Wendy Cheeseman in the back row could well be Denise Pattenden.

Great to see this photo after all of these years; I played Tom the Piper's son.
These were great times to be living in Handcross.
I have lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba for the past 43 years. I grew up on the Hyde Estate.
