Comments:
My mother, Isabella "Betty" Tomsett, is the nun on the right of the picture.
She took part in many performances. Her greatest triumph was playing the lead in "Brittania of Billingsgate".

My father, Pat O'Shea, is second male from the right at the back; he is playing Melling.
I have a programme and a newspaper review.
The play won a place for them to perform at Glyndebourne.

My mother, Marie Laurence, played sister Bonaventure far left and my father Geoffrey was backstage with the stage sets, lighting, etc.
They did indeed get to Glyndebourne that year. They came fourth but a fantastic, almost professional, performance of "The Pirates of Penzance" won.
Betty and Pat were good friends of my mum. Pat taught me how to spell necessary: c comes before s, and 1 comes before 2. I will never forget that.
