Cobblers shop in Handcross High Street

Once again Kimberley is used for another type of shop. Tom Leppard, pictured above, originally worked with Arthur Anscombe (picture #441), but, when the latter retired, Mr Leppard operated the same business a few doors away at Kimberley. In due course Tom was joined in the business by his son, Reg, who had earlier moved from Handcross to London, but returned to the village when the business became too busy for his father.
Reg Leppard was in the Handcross Auxiliary Fire Service during the war and, having had two years experience in the London Fire Brigade, was placed in charge. A small sign saying “Fireman” can be seen on the outside of the shop adjacent to the main sign.
I remember going in the shop in the 1950s with shoes or football boots to mend and, in particular, the overwhelming smell of leather.

This is a photo of my husband's relative. Is it Thomas or Reg Leppard? My husband's name is Graham Leppard.

Barry Ray added:- Sorry, I did not make it clear in the text that it is Thomas Leppard in the picture. I have now made a correction.
I believe Thomas is your husband's grandfather who had three sons, at least, and the youngest one was Jack who had a son called Graham. I presume that is your husband.

Yes, that is correct.
