Handcross Police Station

The Police House and office served the community for 69 years. In common with virtually all rural police stations nationally, the office closed when I retired after having served in the area for 25 years.
When the other two houses in the terrace were transferred to West Sussex County Council in 1974 the road maintenance work was contracted out, but the former WSCC employees were permitted to stay in the other two houses in the terrace as tenants.
