School children at Handcross Park

A group of children is loitering on their way to school, and perhaps the man is awaiting a lift to work.
Inscribed on the white gabled structure on the roadside is the construction date of 1882, and it seems fair to say that just 25 years later the lodge can still be described as newly-built.
