Horses in the Red Lion yard

Standing in front of the building that used to be located at the back of the Red Lion yard are six draught horses mounted by the stable men and boys. The horses have their winter coats on, but clearly they have been mounted solely for the photograph. A lady has emerged from the back door of the inn; perhaps she is the landlord’s wife.
In the background is a stagecoach with items of luggage on the roof and, somewhat incongruously, a tricycle.
