Fire crews at the Red Lion, Handcross

The picture of the fire crews trying to save the Red Lion is not clear, but it still manages to capture the drama of that night.
It was with a great deal of relief that the fire claimed no lives, and merely badly damaged an historic building in Handcross. After all, the building can be repaired and restored to again serve the public, which, indeed, it was.
Click on Open Document to view a report of the fire from an unknown local newspaper.
