The verger beneath the lych gate at Slaugham

The lych gate was erected in 1903 and it certainly looks quite fresh in this undated photograph. Standing beneath the roof is the verger of Slaugham church, Bill Sayers from Scotland Farm.
The inscription reads “Remember ye in the Lord, Wilfred Hans Loder, to whose memory his widow dedicates this gate.” He was the son of Robert and Maria Loder from High Beeches, Handcross and died in 1902 aged 51.
