Matcham tomb at Slaugham church

This shows the Matcham tomb located against the exterior east wall of Slaugham church. It is unusual for a sibling of the deceased to be mentioned on a tomb, but if that sibling is none other than Lord Nelson perhaps it is quite understandable.
It is interesting to note that the 5th and 6th sons of Catherine Matcham, the naval hero’s sister, were given the forenames of Horatio Nelson, and Nelson, respectively, as a mark of respect to their distinguished uncle.
