Riflemans Cottage, Warninglid

On the sharp right-hand bend just below the old Rifleman pub in Warninglid, the driveway beyond the gate leads to Routwood, and Hillside Cottage stands on the junction. There appears to be a bit of a stand-off with a farmer holding a cow at the end of a length of rope with the shadowy figure of perhaps his wife standing in the doorway.
In about 1982 the residence was renamed Riflemans Cottage.
The cottage has now been extended at the left and the rough piece of grassland in the foreground is a very tidy lawn. Otherwise this peaceful scene today is much as it was at the beginning of the 20th century.
