Staplefield Road

This is the view entering Handcross from Staplefield Road. The Cheyne Garage Ltd were advertising their Singer and Ford cars which they were selling in Brighton and London. Due to excessive liabilities the company was wound up in June 1916. The photograph was taken on 18th June 1918 and it seems their signs lasted longer than the business did.
