Fire at Slaugham Manor

A fire severely damaged Slaugham Manor in the afternoon of Monday, 21st February 1994. It took three years to replace the fire-damaged roof and upper rooms, and when it was almost completed it was destroyed again after an accident with a blowlamp!
It had been a valuable and well-used base for the police at Gatwick but now seems to be used for occasional training only. Such a shame for a beautiful building.
