Vanguard accident - Funeral of Mr Hutchings

One of the ten victims of the Vanguard crash was Henry “Harry” Hutchings, a local undertaker, part-time fireman, and former member and captain of Cray Wanderers Football Club. His funeral was held in Orpington on Tuesday 17th July with over 3000 people attending. The procession through the streets lined with mourners was both impressive and moving with long rows of policemen, followed by more rows of firemen with their shiny helmets.
Leading the procession on horseback was Police Inspector Thomas Hill, from Sidcup police station.
