Sir Edmund Loder's wedding

Here is another view of the arch outside the Red Lion, but a comparison with picture #88 shows a couple of anomalies. The large rectangular portion of the arch appears to be of a different shape. However, a close inspection of the original photo reveals a white board filling the gap, perhaps originally destined to have some sort of proclamation relating to the wedding. Most of the A-frame structure and foliage is against the north side of the board, but only a small amount of foliage is displayed on the southerly side. However, a similar explanation cannot be found to account for the two missing pollarded trees and the pub sign! These have been deleted from the published photograph, but it is difficult to come up with a logical reason for so doing.
