Slaugham 2010 Year Book
In volume III of the Old Series Ordnance Survey of England and Wales, it states that Sussex fell within an area designated "South-Central England". These maps were published between 1810 to 1817.
The map covering Slaugham was published between these dates.
I cannot be more precise on the date but, intriguingly, it shows Pond Tail Farm named as "Pellets".

The 1842 Tithe Map shows a building where Pond Tail Farm is now, but, unusually, does not identify it, nor name the owner or any occupier.
The 1861 Census disclosed that the occupiers of "Pond Tail" were agricultural labourer, George Mitchell (60) and his wife, Ann (58).
I can find nothing on "Pellets".

Interestingly, there is a John Pellet Esq. born and died in Bolney 1588 - 1628.
The Pellet surname was first found in Sussex in the 13th century where they had a family seat (unknown) as Lords of the Manor.
The Esquire tag suggests he was a man of substance.

Further to my earlier comment I now enclose a copy of the map showing the name of the property as "Pellets".

Further to earlier comments, a map of 1879 shows the farm described as Holeswood Farm.
The map also shows Holes Wood located just south of Brook Cottage, Slaugham.
It is generally accepted that the name is derived from holes left behind following the excavations for iron ore during the 16th to 18th centuries to feed the furnaces located a short distance away at the Furnace Pond.
The map can be viewed by clicking on Open Document above.
