Bravery award at Warninglid school

Warninglid school hosted a ceremony to present eleven-year-old Harry Langley with a vellum certificate for bravery from the Royal Humane Society. The presentation of the award was made by Major Lister who praised Harry wholeheartedly in saving the life of ten-year-old James Tompsett in an incident on the Mill Pond, Slaugham.
The whole story of this brave act is recorded in the school log book with a newspaper cutting reporting on the ceremony pasted therein.
Click on Large Version for a close up of the cutting which is difficult to read, and on Open Document for a clearer transcription.
